Marriage Preparation Course
The course is run by Charles and Tricia Marnham, who have been married for over 30 years. The course is designed to help any engaged couple develop strong foundations for a lasting marriage.
The five sessions cover topics such as:
- Communication
- Commitment
- Resolving conflict
- Keeping love alive
- Shared values
Each couple’s privacy is respected as there is no group discussion and no requirement to disclose anything about their relationship to anyone else. The aim is to give couples practical tools to build their relationship and there is time and space to work through any challenging issues.
As part of the course, we also ask you to complete a questionnaire called FOCCUS that we believe is of tremendous value. The questionnaire helps you to recognise any issues that are useful for you to discuss as a couple prior to marriage. Since training is required to interpret the results, we do not pass the results back to you directly. Instead we offer you the opportunity to meet with your support couple over dinner to discuss any issues. FOCCUS is completed on-line. We will email you details of the questionnaire and a link to the website during the course.
Please also note that due to the number of engaged couples who register onto this course we cannot guarantee that everyone will be able to have a support couple - we allocate support couples on a first come, first served basis.
Attending the course is an invaluable time investment for a marriage that will last long after the wedding day.
The Marriage Preparation Course was developed by Nicky and Sila Lee who also co-authored The Marriage Book. While based on Christian principles, the course is relevant and helpful for any couple with or without a Christian faith or church background.
Our next Marriage Preparation Course starts in January 2012 and will run for 5 weeks on the following dates:
19th January,
26th January,
2nd February,
