At St Michael’s we’re convinced that the teenage years are not merely to be survived, but that they can be a time of real thriving and joy! The Rooted youth group is run by our curate and a team of other leaders, and is for teens from year nine (third form) and up.
During term-time we meet every Sunday from 4:30-5:55pm in the ‘church room’ (which can be accessed by the kitchen door) for some good down-time and food before the madness of the school week begins again. There is ping pong, pool, the Wii, Pucket, giant Jenga and of course other favourites such as ‘Ghost’ and ‘Mafia!’ There is also a time learning more about the Christian faith as we hear a talk on a ‘hot topic’ and study a Bible passage together each week. Afterwards those who are able, tend to stay on for the evening service at church (6-7.30pm). During the holidays we hold an ‘All In’ event where those who have been away boarding during term-time can join in the fun and catch up with the rest of the clan.
We have a wide variety of people come to the group spanning all different types of school, family and Christian background; the more the merrier! We like to think of ourselves as a small family in the heart of the big city and seek to look out for one another and serve together. Come along and bring a friend – we’d love to see you!
